Andrea Freeman joined the Earth Sciences Program in 1997. She is jointly appointed in the Departments of Archaeology, Geography, and Geoscience. Her Ph.D. dissertation described the relationship between desert stream processes and human subsistence-settlement changes during the middle to late Holocene in the American Southwest. She has also conducted extensive research on Paleoindian (late Pleistocene-early Holocene) geoarchaeology in eastern North America. Currently Dr. Freeman is researching the context of early and middle Holocene sites on the northern Plains. This research has been funded by a SSHRC standard research grant. She is also re-investigating previously known sites from the ice-free corridor to further explore the geologic context of these sites.
