Biography

Vishnu is currently pursuing his third-year PhD on Microwave remote sensing of snow-covered first-year Arctic sea ice. He is working with Prof. John Yackel, at the Cryosphere Climate Research Group, University of Calgary. His PhD research is to utilize multi-frequency (Ku-, X- and C-band) surface-based polarimetric scatterometry to estimate snow thickness retrievals on Arctic first-year sea ice

He completed his Masters in Earth Observation Sciences with specialization in Polarimetric SAR remote sensing from ITC, The Netherlands. Before starting with his PhD, he worked as Research Scholar at the Alfred Wegener Institute Helmholtz Centre for Polar and Marine Research, Germany. He has rich expertise in working with different RES, SAR Polarimetry and Interferometry datasets for different Cryosphere (Arctic sea ice,Antarctic Ice Shelves) and Biosphere applications.
