Strategy of Research Team: Maintenance of ecosystem process and resulting biodiversity on Canadian Rocky Mountains and adjacent foothills require informed natural resource policies based on high quality science and professional practice. The goal of the G8 Chair is to initiate: - a framework of studies that can take into account the spatial and temporal variations in ecosystem processes. - a team of both senior and junior researchers in different, but connected fields (ecologists, hydrologists, economists, geomatic engineers, geomorphologists, etc.) as well as their graduate students and post-doctoral fellows. - an interaction between partners and stakeholders and the research team. The overall strategy is to put in place long-term studies which will leave a continuing legacy of: 1) trained personnel, 2) increased knowledge on how ecosystems work, 3) research-partner infrastructure in the form of Research Centres.
