I am an urban geographer with an expertise in the political economy of contemporary urbanization. My research has focused on a range of topics such as urban governance, culturally led urban development, gentrification, environmental racism, and universities as land-developers. I am currently I am researching the role of knowledge production, particularly patenting, for the development of the unconventional hydrocarbons. The second project is a more expansive; the issue geographical rent for urban and regional development; and I continue to explore issues around housing and neighborhood change, particularly in relationship to Austin, Texas.
