Profile

Ricardo Barbosa Jr is a MA student at the Geography at the University of Calgary under the supervision of Dr. Marit Rosol. His current research concentrates on urban food activism in Calgary analyzed through the food sovereignty lens. Having researched rural social movements in the Global South, he is interested in understanding the forms food sovereignty can take in urban centers of the Global North. A phenomenon characterized in the literature as either "second generation" or "urban" food sovereignty.
