Profile

Ricardo Barbosa Junior started his MA in Geography at the University of Calgary in January 2017 under the supervision of Dr. Marit Rosol. His current research concentrates on food activism in Calgary analyzed through the food sovereignty lens. Having researched rural social movements in the Global South, he is interested in understanding the forms food sovereignty takes in urban centers of the Global North. A phenomenon characterized in the literature as either "second generation" or "urban" food sovereignty.
