Biography:

Yvonne Martin joined the Geography Department in 1997 after completing her MSc and PhD degrees at the University of British Columbia. She is involved in research projects including modelling of drainage basin evolution over millennial time scales in western Canada, operation of hillslope and fluvial processes, and impacts of wildfire on geomorphology. She was invited to be part of the interdisciplinary Research Group for the G8 Legacy Chair in Wildlife Ecology, reflecting her increasing interest in links between geomorphological and ecological systems. She has served on the Executive of the Canadian Geomorphological Research Group for two terms and was invited in 2003 to join a team of international researchers responsible for founding the new Geomorphology Section of the European Geophysical Union.
